Digital
media and digital communities offer significant opportunities to learn. A media
and digital literate teacher must be aware and involved in networks. By exploring
digital community spaces, new depths and interests can be added to both teachers
and students. Through community spaces, educational tools can be explored.
Teachers have the resources through community spaces to obtain the knowledge to
create digital and media rich environments for literacy learning. Involving in
networks, encourages, engages, and excites personal and professional work. Educators
need to take advantage of community spaces in order to prepare students to
actively participate with people digitally. Online participates have an option
to be active and/or passive members of multiple digital community spaces. Active
and passive members have an equal opportunity to find answers and gather
general information through digital communities. Online communities can take
the form of an information system or a supplemental communication system.
Pinterest is a digital space that members use to collect ideas. Through this visual discovery tool, people create and share collections of images known as pins. These pins are uploaded, saved, shorted, and managed into boards. Pinterest is a personalized media platform, whereby pins are shared between members. Pinterest has become a popular digital community space used by educators. Through Pinterest, educators have the ability to improve teaching practices by exploring other members collected and suggested ideas. Educators can become an active participates by sharing their knowledge through pins. Pinterest has made the process of sharing and distributing information and ideas more efficient and effective.
I have screen captured by newly created Digital Learning Board on Pinterest. The pins shown below are important resources for digital storytelling and media topics and content. As an active member of Pinterest, I hope to encourage and engage fellow pinners in digital media. These resources are catered to teaching practices with regards to media and digital literacy. Through pinning these media and digital ideas, I hope to offer significant opportunities to learn about and become aware of important digital educational tools that will enrich the education environment with media and digital literacy.
